Your server is up and running with MCServerHost, But wait! Something’s missing, everything still looks default… Default is great, but why settle for ordinary when you can have custom textures that can give your server a whole new vibe!? A custom resource pack can truly make your server unique.

We’ll walk you through adding a custom Resource Pack to your server so every player gets a fresh experience the moment they join the server. In this guide, we’ll cover what a Resource Pack is, how to upload it using MC-Packs, common mistakes to avoid, and the final steps to apply it to your server.

Whether you are running a chill survival SMP, a deadly Lifesteal, a hardcore anarchy world, or something completely out of the world. Let's level up your server's aesthetics with a custom resource pack.

What is a Resource Pack

A Resource Pack is a collection of custom textures, models, and UI elements. It is different from mods and plugins as it only affects the game's visuals and aesthetics, not the gameplay itself.

Resource Packs will help you to create a themed server. Whether you're building a medieval-themed server, a futuristic world, or a deadly Lifesteal, they make the game visually immersive for all players. And the best part?! Once the pack is set up, everyone who joins your server will automatically download it!

Uploading a Resource Pack

Before starting the process, we recommend you install any Resource Pack of your choice from a trusted marketplace such as Modrinth, PlanetMC, or any other. Make sure that your resource pack is in .zip format and compatible with your server version.

1. After downloading the Resource Pack of your choice, head to MC-packs.net on your preferred browser.

2. Click on the 'Choose File' option and upload the Resource Pack that you downloaded before proceeding with this process.

3. On uploading, give the site some time to process your Resource Pack, and you will soon find a unique download URL and SHA-1 hash for your Resource Pack.

6. There locate the 'resource-pack' configuration and change its value to the download URL provided by MC-Packs. In our case, it will be -

7. Similarly, locate the 'resource-pack-sha1' configuration and change its value to the SHA-1 hash provided by MC-Packs. In this case, it will look something like -

resource-pack-sha1=c3f93ebacd2961016db709f33d27245028a30e35

8. Lastly, locate the 'require-resource-pack' configuration and change its value from false to true. This will force every player to download and use the resource pack that you added on your server.

9. Save the changes on your server and start it in order to let your Resource Pack to start its work.

Common Mistakes

Some players are not able to use the Resource Pack - In order to force all players to use your Resource Pack on your server, don't forget to set the 'require-resource-pack' value to 'true' instead of 'false' to make sure players use the pack every time they join your server.

Not able to upload my Resource Pack on MC-Packs - MC-Packs has a 95MB upload limit. If your file is too big, try compressing it.

Conclusion

Adding a Resource Pack to your Minecraft Server is a simple process, and if done right, it is a great way to upgrade your Minecraft Server's visuals and connect it with the theme of the server itself. It also enhances the player experience, making your server feel unique.
