Minecraft's Java and Bedrock editions don't support crossplay, but GeyserMC lets Bedrock players join Java servers. Here's how to install and set it up for seamless play.
Minecraft featured two editions of the game — the Java edition, which is majorly used on PC, and the Bedrock edition, which is majorly used on consoles, mobiles, Windows 10/11, and many others. Both these editions of the game runs differently and have their own unique gameplay mechanics, preventing players from joining the same server or world.
However, to solve this issue, players can simply install GeyserMC. A revolutionary plugin allowing the bedrock edition of the game to join servers running on the Java edition and experience all the features, plugins, and other mechanics configured on it.
GeyserMC is a plugin that acts as a proxy between a Java and a Bedrock server. It works by translating Bedrock network packets from the Bedrock client into Java-compatible ones. In simple terms, it acts as a gateway for the Bedrock edition of the game to join a Java server, and since it only works by translating Bedrock network packets, no updates or modifications take place in the game, and both editions of the game can enjoy the same experience without experiencing any type of difficulty.
1. Open the MCServerHost panel and click "Configure New Server" to start creating a new server.
2. Select your server edition, then choose "CrossPlay" on the server software selection page.
3. Once selected, proceed with the remaining setup. The server will automatically install all the necessary plugins and configurations for crossplay.
4. If you've already configured and created a server with MCServerHost and want to switch it to crossplay, simply go to the dashboard and change the server software to "CrossPlay".
1. Download the latest versions of GeyserMC and Floodgate from GeyserMC’s official website.
2. Log in to your MCServerHost dashboard, locate the server where you want to install the plugins, and stop the server.
3. Navigate to the File Manager, open the 'plugins' folder, and upload both the GeyserMC and Floodgate .jar files.
4. Restart your server to allow both plugins to generate their configuration files.
5. After the server has restarted, go back to the 'File Manager', open the 'plugins' folder, and locate the newly generated folder named 'Geyser-Spigot'.
6. Open the 'Geyser-Spigot' folder to access the 'config.yml' folder. On locating that, configure the following —
bedrock:
address: 0.0.0.0
port: (Port of your Server)
remote:
address: (IP of your Server)
port: (Port of your Server)
auth-type: floodgate
7. Once you have successfully configured the config.yml file, save your changes and restart your server.
After you are done configuring your server with GeyserMC along with Floodgate manually, you can encounter multiple issues due to not configuring them correctly. To solve that, we have written some problems and ways to solve them -
Bedrock Edition players cannot join the server - After you are done installing both the plugins, make sure that they are installed in the correct folder and double-check if the IP and port values in the 'config.yml' file are correctly filled. Lastly, don't forget to save your updated settings and restart your server for the changes to take place

After completing the entire process according to this tutorial, you will be able to join your Java edition server with any edition of the game. On that, it is advised to back up your server before installing GeyserMC on your server and configuring it, as it can also produce multiple errors on your server if not configured correctly.
