While managing a Minecraft server, you will occasionally need to access its files in order to perform several actions like – uploading plugins/mods, editing files, backups, and many others. The most efficient way to do this is through our in-built file manager present on our game panel, but some people prefer to do it by FTP/SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol), which helps the client to connect to their server files through a third-party software like FileZilla, WinSCP, and several others.

In this guide, we are going to show you how to connect to your Minecraft server's files using SFTP, with the help of FileZilla, which is third-party software allowing us to connect to the server files and make changes in them. Similarly, while SFTP is not a very convenient method to access your server files, it sometimes can come in handy while uploading large files to your server, manually taking server backups, and several other ways.

Installing FileZilla (FTP Client)

To install FileZilla, you can simply go to their website at https://filezilla-project.org/ and download the appropriate version of the client according to your system requirements. Apart from FileZilla, there are also many other options for FTP clients that you can go for, some of the names include - WinSCP, CyberDuck, and many others.

Connect to Your Minecraft Server with FileZilla

After installing FileZilla or any other FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client on your system, you can start following the steps below in order to get started with connecting your Minecraft server through the FTP client that you installed on your system.

1. Log in to your MCServerHost dashboard and select the server you want to connect to.

2. On selecting the server of your choice, head towards your file manager, where you will find the FTP credentials.
